Excavators of all sizes are designed with swing drive, swing motor and swing gear & bearing components. The top of the unit is usually A hydraulic piston swing motor and below will be the swing gear reduction unit normally refereed to as the swing drive or swing gear box.

The swing drive has a large pinion on the bottom that will turn the house of the hydraulic excavator via a swing gear & bearing or slewing ring. Most swing drives consists of a single or double reduction planetary gear set up.
